First-graders in Katianne Howe’s class at Deauville Gardens West Elementary School celebrated their writing accomplishments with a slumber party on Dec. 8.
Dressed in their coziest pajamas and armed with their fluffiest blankets, the students shared their personal narrative writings in small groups. Using just their flashlights, each student read their story to their group. After listening to each author, the students told each other what they liked best about each story. They then rotated groups around the room until everyone had the chance to share stories.
