Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School has announced the top 10 students for the graduating Class of 2018.
With a weighted GPA of 104.03, Alexandra Saczawa has been named the valedictorian. Samantha Sanchez has been named salutatorian with a weighted GPA of 103.71.
Alexandra is an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Math Team, Science Olympiad, Science Research, Key Club (president), Bringing Unity Through Youth Club (treasurer) and Global Ambassadors Club. Throughout her time at Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School, she has served as vice president of her class. She is the captain of the varsity girls lacrosse team and is involved in numerous community service activities. Alexandra plans to major in pre-med but is still undecided on a college.
Samantha is a member of the National Honor Society, Science Olympiad, One Mind Club, Tree Huggerz Club, Key Club, Math Team and Bringing Unity Through Youth Club. She participates in field hockey, and also volunteers in the community and at her local church. Samantha is still undecided on her college choice but plans to become a physician’s assistant.
