Copiague Students Receive AP RecognitionEach year, an increasing number of Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School students challenge themselves by enrolling in the district’s most rigorous courses. These students continue to excel in the classroom and on exams. As a result of this commitment, the College Board recognized 65 current students and Class of 2017 graduates as Advanced Placement Scholars.
With an average score of at least 4 on all AP exams taken and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams, 2017 Copiague graduates Mikayla Angel, Brayan Pena and Tomasz Solecki were named National AP Scholars.
Twenty-three past and current students were named AP Scholars with Distinction for earning average scores of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. They are: Katherine Abreu, Mikayla Angel, Kelly Cheung, Kimberly Cheung, Cristian Dilone, Osazuwa Eghafona, William Feldman, Carolyn Gonzalez, Jackalyn Gonzalez, David Harrah, Ashley Hudson, Teja Jabouin, Gregory Morgan, Brayan Pena, Nayeli Pena, Alexandra Saczawa, Samantha Sanchez, Neal Shah, Davina Smith, Tomasz Solecki, Rose Spanato, Adrian Tavarez and Chanyia Welch.
The recognition of being named an AP Scholar with Honor was given to nine students who received an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. They are Jade Dickenson, Ivan Gonzales, Jason Hernandez, Cameren Jackson, Jennifer Lopez-Fernandez, Brady Madden, Peter Milillo, Belen Morote and Yusmika Sevilla.
Thirty students were named AP Scholars based on earning scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.
